Monitoring Standard Days Method Services

The provision of the Standard Days Method (SDM) has been closely monitored in all countries where services have been implemented. Many programs have introduced the method through operations research studies designed to assess and evaluate service delivery strategies.

Close monitoring and evaluation are critical to improve SDM services and ensure their sustainability. The Institute has developed the following tools to monitor service delivery:

Knowledge Improvement Tool (KIT) - To be administered individually by a supervisor or trainer, it evaluates provider competences in SDM provision. The information collected identifies concepts that need reinforcement and allows for adjustments in trainings to help meet specific provider needs.

Site Assessment Tool: A rapid analysis that evaluates the status of SDM integration in programs with respects to training resources, method accessibility, inclusion in IEC materials, supervision documents and management information systems, as well as availability of CycleBeads.
