Honduras – Overview of Country Activities:
ASHONPLAFA and CEVIFA collaborated with the Institute
to train both Ministry of Health (MOH) and NGO
providers in the Standard Days Method (SDM). In
addition, ASHONPLAFA incorporated the SDM into
their institutional norms and their logistics
and management information systems.
Since introducing the SDM, over 900 providers
were trained and more than 2,000 new SDM users
have been reported. USAID/Honduras included the
SDM in their strategic plan for reproductive health,
and CEVIFA assisted the MOH to include the SDM
in its norms as well as in the curricula of national
university nursing schools. CEVIFA, a faith-based
organization, also provided training and training
assistance to other NGOs such as Aldea Global,
a small community-based organization, and several
catholic churches.
