Ethiopia – Overview of Country Activities:
The Institute for Reproductive Health is working
with Pathfinder International to test the introduction
of the Standard Days Method (SDM) into an existing
community-based family planning service delivery
system. In August 2004, the Institute conducted
a training of trainers for health care professionals
from 14 of Pathfinder’s network partners.
Since then, Pathfinder translated SDM materials,
including job aids and training materials into
Amharic.

Country Updates
Pathfinder has trained 88 community-based reproductive
health agents (CBRHAs) in Dendi, Dembi Dolo, Meket,
and Sodo, all rural areas, and provided them with
CycleBeads for distribution to clients, teaching,
and demonstration. While data is not complete,
and most sites have been operational for only
six months, Pathfinder reports over 200 SDM users.
